Foreo Issa 2 (Check on Amazon.com) has only one program: the one for daily cleaning of the standard duration of two minutes, which is also recommended by dentists. What distinguishes this electric toothbrush is its cleaning technology; it is a sonic one, which allows bristles to perform as many as 11,000 micro-pulsations per minute to destroy plaque and clean deeply.

The special design of the heads allows them to act on multiple levels at the same time. This set is provided with a head called “hybrid”, designed to work in more than one mode: in the center, we find PBT bristles, a resistant polymer that acts energetically on the dental plaque; on the sides of the head, we find soft silicone bristles, which gently clean and massage the gums.

The back of all Foreo heads also has a wavy surface, designed to sanitize the tongue at the end of the cleaning cycle of the dental arch.

The extreme versatility of this electric toothbrush is aided by the possibility to select from 16 available speeds, using the + and – buttons located on the front of the handle; In this way, the user can further customize the brushing according to the area of the mouth or personal preference.

• Automatic shutdown: after 3 minutes, the Foreo Issa 2 will automatically turn off;
• LED indicator: at the base of the toothbrush there is a LED indicator, which, in addition to indicating the remaining charge, also signals the end of two minutes recommended cleaning time;
• Built-in memory: the Foreo Issa 2 has a built-in memory, allowing it to remember the speed set by the user during subsequent use;
• Security: Pressing the + and – buttons at the same time, the Foreo Issa 2 can be locked. This is a particularly useful feature on the go, as it allows you to carry it in your purse or suitcase without risking it inadvertently switching on.

As for the possibility to use other heads, we note that the Foreo Issa 2 is compatible with all Foreo heads.

Power

This electric toothbrush is powered by an internal lithium battery, which makes it very powerful and allows it to withstand frequent use without suffering any loss of performance. The unique feature of the Foreo Issa 2 is, however, the extraordinary autonomy of its battery: the manufacturer promises up to 365 days of autonomy after a recharge of just one hour. To date, no electric toothbrush on the market can boast such long autonomy, since that of traditional models is around 5-7 days. For this reason, we believe that the Foreo Issa 2 is an excellent solution for those who travel often and want to take their electric toothbrush with them without worrying about charging times.

Charging can be done via a USB cable that can be connected directly to the device, which is not equipped with a charging base for convenience; however, please note that the power adapter for the USB cable is not included, so you’ll need to get one yourself.

Design

Among the distinctive features of Foreo electric toothbrushes, we find the attention to design and the use of innovative materials.

This model is embellished with a tapered and minimal design, which makes it lightweight, ergonomic and easier to handle. The whole area is lined with a material that makes the handle grippy even with wet or damp hands and is completely waterproof, therefore, you can safely use the Foreo Issa 2 during a shower.

Accessories

The Foreo Issa 2 is a good kit for oral hygiene. Considering the high price of this set, we would like a more rich accessory kit.

In the package, we find the USB power cable, an instruction manual and a pouch, in which we can store the toothbrush to take it with us on the road. The highlight of this set is the two heads supplied with it:

• A 100% silicone head: it is perfect for sensitive teeth and gums, characterized by a dense series of soft medical silicone bristles, which make brushing delicate but efficient. This material is also distinguished by its natural antibacterial properties, which ensure maximum hygiene;
• A hybrid head: this silicone and PBT polymer head, described above, is designed for a more energetic brushing and can crush the dental plaque.

Compared to the traditional heads that need to be replaced every three months, the Foreo heads are decidedly more durable: the resistant and antibacterial materials that distinguish them allow the 100% silicone head to be used for a whole year and the hybrid one for 6 months.

Personal experience

We have tested for you the Foreo Issa 2 Sensitive Set Mint and below we report our impressions.

Materials: this electric toothbrush impressed us for the attention to detail that distinguishes it and makes it both comfortable and easy to handle, while elegant and aesthetically pleasing; we were also amazed by the use of medical silicone, excellent material that allows the Foreo Issa 2 to stand out for its high quality.

Handle: thanks to its tapered and lightweight body, the Foreo Issa 2 is really easy and comfortable to use. It is soft, flexible and able to easily reach even the most difficult corners of the oral cavity, adapting to the curvature of the teeth; in addition, both heads are longer than those of standard electric toothbrushes.

Brushing: the sonic technology allows the head of the Foreo Issa 2 to swing at a very high speed. We would like to point out to those who are used to the rotary movement of standard electric toothbrushes that, especially during the first use, the cleaning sensation produced by the combination of sonic pulsations and silicone bristles is decidedly special; overall the cleaning action is in our opinion very delicate and less aggressive than brushing with synthetic fiber bristles, which is why we confirm that the Foreo Issa 2 can be safely used on sensitive gums.

Final verdict

Among the strengths of the Foreo Issa 2 is its minimal and innovative design and the heads made of medical silicone, a resistant and naturally antibacterial material, designed to act simultaneously on teeth, gums, and tongue. Another distinctive feature of this electric toothbrush is the long life of the internal lithium battery, which promises up to 365 days of autonomy with just one hour of charging. The functionality is also good since its equipped with a timer, an automatic shutdown feature, an LED indicator, a safety lock, and the built-in memory.
