iRobot Roomba 650 review

Before writing this review we went online to check which were the most successful products and we noticed that the top three always included the iRobot Roomba 650 (Check on Amazon.com), so what better opportunity to review it? This robotic vacuum has a medium price range, so our expectations are quite high. We’ve read a lot of positive feedback about this product, but the best thing to do is to try it ourselves.

Speaking of the design, both weight and size are rather average, with a round structure, the front is covered in shock-resistant rubber, the rest is made of solid plastic, the classic robot vacuum cleaner. It is well-built, certainly a step above the cheaper models. Even the accessories do not disappoint, inside the box we find the classic virtual wall, which as is easily understood by its name, it creates a virtual wall that the robot will never pass as if it were a real wall. In addition, the Roomba 650 is equipped with the now-standard anti-fall sensors, which prevent the robot from tumbling downstairs, very useful for those living in two-story apartments/houses.

There is also the charging dock/base where the small robot attaches automatically after cleaning, or if it is short on battery, and then resumes work from where it left. And finally, there is also an accessory for cleaning the brushes.

Thorough cleaning

Let’s now list in brief the functions of this iRobot Roomba 650. We have already mentioned the virtual wall, but the more important one is the Wall Following Technology. This allows the small robot to follow the perimeter of the house in order to effectively clean every corner and when you see it at work you soon realize the difference between this and the models that do not have this function. You can also schedule the cleaning, both daily and weekly.

Now let’s move on to the results of our direct test with this little robot. The first thing we noticed is that the Roomba 650 is a powerful vacuum cleaner, but also a bit noisy.

Effective

It collects everything from dust to bread crumbs, even if its power sometimes makes it raise a little too much dust, which it will pick up later. The work did not seem, precisely, for this reason, ultra-fast and compared to the best models it needs a few more passes, but at the end of the day, the work is done in the best way. The difference in cleaning between this model and the budget models is night and day.

It cleans well on any type of surface, especially in the corners and along the perimeter. The robot’s autonomy is 2 hours, more than enough to clean a medium-sized house, and charging takes about three hours.

In conclusion, the Roomba 650 (Check on Amazon.com) is a functional robot that cleans really good although it is not the fastest. Great for small and medium-sized houses, but also for two-story apartments and for those with carpets scattered around the house. Scheduling is easy and straightforward you just have to follow the instructions of the well-written manual.
