Logitech MX Master 2S review: simply perfect

When working at the computer, the choice of a mouse is of crucial importance. Using a good quality mouse, in fact, not only can optimize your work and make it more precise, but you will also do your body a favor, preserving the health of your hand, wrist, neck, and shoulder. This is why I want to talk to you today about the Logitech MX Master 2S (Check on Amazon.com), a mouse that I’ve been using the last few weeks and that has amazed me positively not only for its many features – some with the WOW effect – but also for the enormous comfort it provides, that allows for prolonged use without stressing my body.

The Logitech MX Master 2S is one of the most advanced wireless mice in existence and one of the best mice you can find on the market today. Aesthetically it is almost identical to the previous model, but it sports a bigger autonomy (its battery lasts up to 70 days) and support for the Logitech Flow technology, which allows you to share notes and files between different devices connected to the same network.

The Logitech MX Master 2S works via Bluetooth or USB wireless receiver and can pair with up to three devices at the same time, allowing you to switch from one PC to another with a press of a button, or more simply by moving the cursor from one screen to the other (when you use Logitech Flow). It is compatible with Windows, macOS and has 7 keys, most of which are also programmable. It also has gesture support (which can be performed by holding down the gesture button and moving the mouse to the left, right, up or down) and two scrollers, the classic and a thumb one. The classic wheel supports automatic speed adjustment and intelligent switching between the two modes (step by step or freewheel).

Let’s start by talking about the features that make this Logitech MX Master 2S one of the most advanced mice on the market.

The Logitech MX Master 2S is designed for experienced and professional users who spend a lot of time on the PC; this is not a gaming mouse, but a productivity and work-oriented device. It is recommended for all tasks that require speed of execution and/or a high degree of accuracy: from office work to video editing, to photo processing. It can be used for games, but it is not optimized for them.

It has a very balanced size/weight ratio and a virtually perfect grip. Its ergonomic shape, designed for right-handed only, provides ample space on which to rest the palm of your hand and perfectly supports both hand and wrist, avoiding the physical stress caused by prolonged use of the mouse. Its design is both modern and elegant, with textures on both sides and a large thumb rest on the left side.

With its high-precision 4000 DPI Darkfield laser sensor (with adjustable DPI from 200 to 4,000 dpi, in steps of 50 DPI), the Logitech MX Master 2S delivers flawless operation on virtually any surface, including glass (provided it has a thickness of at least 4mm).

The 500mAh built-in battery ensures up to 70 days of autonomy. In addition, in just three minutes it allows you to reach about 8 hours of battery life, enough to complete a full day’s work. The charging status can be verified thanks to the 3 LEDs on the side of the mouse.

But the features that really distinguish the Logitech MX Master 2S from the rest is the Easy-Switch, which allows you to pair your mouse with three devices at the same time (with the ability to switch between them at the touch of a button), and Logitech’s Flow technology, which allows you to share notes and files from one computer to another.

Yes, by associating the Logitech MX Master 2S with other computers on the same network (whether Wi-Fi or wired) and activating the Logitech Flow feature in the Logitech Options software, you can copy text and files from one computer and paste them onto another, as if it was the same PC (for up to three devices). You can also set the mouse to switch between PCs by simply moving the cursor from one screen to the other, without the press of a button. ‌

Another feature that places the Logitech MX Master 2S above all the other is SmartShift, a function that allows for intelligent scrolling. If activated, it allows the central scroll wheel to automatically switch between two scrolling modes: precise, which is ideal for navigating with maximum precision between tabs and lists, and hyperfast, ideal for scrolling through long documents and web pages.

Logitech MX Master 2S – Verdict

The Logitech MX Master 2S proved to be a practically perfect mouse, to which I could not find any flaws. The number of programmable buttons and the two wheels make this mouse a handy workhorse. And do not underestimate Flow technology, which could be very useful for those who use two (or three) computers side-by-side. Another positive note is the sensor that allows you to use this mouse on any surface, without the need for a mouse pad.
