Good wireless gaming mice have always been more expensive than wired models. The vast majority of them go for $90-100. The Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless disrupts this notion since its selling price is “just” (Check on Amazon.com).

The Harpoon RGB Wireless is identical to the wired version (Check on Amazon.com). This model is once again only available in black. Its coating is made of plastic with its left and right sides textured for added grip. The use of plastic makes it light and the matte finish doesn’t attract fingerprints so much. It feels pleasant in the hand. Corsair made a mouse that is simple yet attractive.

Players with small hands will certainly appreciate it, but for the others, this format may not be optimal. Some of you may need to change your grip type from Claw to Fingertips in order to achieve greater comfort. Our recommendation is to always try it out before buying it.

In the upper part, we find the two main buttons (left and right-click). Their shape is slightly curved so that you can place your fingers more comfortably. The Omron switches are excellent and guarantee 50 million clicks!

Between the two buttons, we find the scrolling wheel that sports a textured coating. It is neither too soft nor too firm, which is just perfect for gaming use. Just behind the wheel, there is a third button that adjusts the sensitivity.

This mouse is designed for right-handers. On the left side, there are two buttons that are placed just above your thumb. These thumb buttons are very reactive but we would have liked them bigger and with a broader shape. In addition, the delimitation between them is not pronounced enough. So it will take you some time to adapt to them.

In the bottom of the Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless, we find 4 Teflon pads. They allow for smooth sliding movements on all surfaces (desk, mouse pad). There is also a small compartment where you can store the USB dongle. It’s really helpful, especially if you take this mouse with you on the move.

Last but not least we find a switch that shifts between the three connection modes: wired, Bluetooth and wireless 2.4GHz. For wired mode, you must connect the proprietary micro USB cable. The disadvantage is that you can not replace it as easily as a standard cable, so you have to be careful not to damage or lose it.

Using the USB dongle, there was never a connection or latency problem during our tests. Thanks to Corsair’s Slipstream wireless technology the Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless mouse is as responsive as its wired counterpart.

The mouse can also be used via Bluetooth. It is not as responsive but the added versatility is always nice. The wireless range is also slightly longer.

The autonomy is its ace in the hole. You can play for over 30 hours with the backlight on. In Bluetooth mode, the mouse is able to reach 60 hours of use. It will take about 2 hours 30 minutes to get a full recharge via the USB port.

Like most products sold by this manufacturer, the Harpoon RGB Wireless gaming mouse is compatible with Corsair’s iCUE software. The app grants you access to different settings and options. You can create different profiles depending on the games you play. You can assign different functions to each of the 6 buttons on the mouse and you can also create your own macros. Of course, you will also be able to manage the different lighting effects. Finally, you can adjust the DPI levels of the optical sensor.

The Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless uses the new and improvedPWM3325 optical sensor that can reach a 10,000 DPI sensitivity. This will suffice the majority of gamers.

Our gaming sessions were buttery smooth and very enjoyable. The buttons are all very reactive and its low weight offers added comfort especially in fast-paced titles. On the other hand, this mouse is not ideal for MMORPGs since it lacks the number of extra buttons necessary for them.

Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless – Verdict

The Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless (Check on Amazon.com) is a gaming mouse that offers the best bang for your bucks. It has an excellent price to quality ratio and it will satisfy all those looking for a compact gaming mouse, that is highly efficient and cost-effective.
