The Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum is an advanced version of the G502 Proteus Core (Check on Amazon.com), with the addition of RGB lighting.

The grip is very comfortable as long as you are right-handed and the rubber coating helps ensure a solid grip even after long sessions. The mouse features 11 programmable keys. Each button is freely customizable using Logitech’s software which allows you to assign specific functions or more elaborate macros to each individual button. Thanks to the built-in memory you can set up to 3 profiles related to specific applications on your PC so that once the desired game is launched, the mouse will automatically default to the desired preset.

Likewise, you can choose between 16.8 million colors and numerous effects. You can also synchronize the mouse’s lighting effects with that of other devices in the Logitech G line.

This mouse also features five 3.6g weights to be placed on the bottom and change the weight and balance of the mouse according to your gaming style, further increasing the possibilities for customization. Testing it on a good number of different titles, but also with productivity programs, we can only confirm the excellent quality of the product, solid and very versatile. The mouse is comfortable, lightweight, provides an excellent grip even during long gaming sessions and the reduced friction feet make it slide really smoothly. Switching between DPI profiles on the fly allows you to be accurate both with a sniper rifle and a machine gun.

The sensor used on the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum is the PMW33660 equipped with “Delta Zero” technology that allows it to track movements at a speed of 300 inches per second. The lift-off distance (the distance from the mat at which the mouse stops recording movement) is automatically adjusted by the software according to the surface on which the mouse is used and thus minimizes the inconveniences caused by repositioning the mouse.

The Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum behaves very well in games: the sensor is great, accurate and reliable. The buttons are well positioned and do not get in the way. 11 buttons is a good number, this mouse is ideal for FPS and MOBA while for MMORPGs it would be better if you invested in one with more side buttons like the Razer Naga.

The side “Sniper” button comes in handy although its position isn’t ideal. For this reason, the Corsair M65 Elite is a better choice.

According to some, the mouse is already heavy at 121 grams without the additional weights and for those who play with a low sensitivity setting may become uncomfortable in the long run.

Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum – Verdict

What happens if you take one of the best mouse released in 2015 and update it with LED lighting? Simple, you get the same great mouse with customizable lighting. If you don’t care about RGB lighting, buy the Logitech G502 Proteus Core (Check on Amazon.com) and save some money, otherwise, the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (Check on Amazon.com) is one of the best mice out there.
