Misfit Vapor review

The Misfit Vapor is an excellent budget smartwatch given its price, good display, and minimal design. Too bad for the absence of GPS and NFC and for the autonomy that doesn’t elevate it from the competition.

Package

Package

There are no big surprises in the package. In addition to the watch (Check on Amazon.com), we find the magnetic charging base with a long cable.

Build Quality

Build Quality

Vapor has a very simple and minimal design. It is made of steel and is perfectly circular. The design is uninterrupted except for the physical button on the right side. On the wrist, the watch is discreet, despite its thickness. The strap is quite comfortable.

Hardware

Hardware

We have 4GB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM and a Snapdragon 2100 processor. The performance is good. It also sports a heart rate sensor and Wi-Fi.

It is not equipped with GPS and therefore can’t function as a fitness tracker on its own, and it is not equipped with NFC so it can’t be used for Android Pay.

Display

Display

The Misfit Vapor has a 1.39″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 326 pixels in diameter (circular display). The screen is bright and has beautiful contrasts. The automatic brightness function works quite well.

Software

Software

There is nothing new here except the way notifications are displayed. Misfit enriched the watch with some proprietary apps: a global clock (usable only with the outer dial), a weather app, a heartbeat app, and the fitness app.

The latter is quite modest, but it allows you to choose between various sports (walking, running, cycling, swimming, and hiking). The data it collects is very basic and there are no particular graphs or anything else to inspire you to do better. This also applies to the smartphone app that focuses primarily on the social aspect. Thankfully you can still sync it with other fitness apps like Swim IO, MyFitnessPal, RunKeeper, Walgreens and MapMyFitness.

Autonomy

Battery life is just average. It will last about 1 and a half days, turning it off during night time. If you also want to track your sleep you will have to recharge it before going to bed.

Price

The Misfit Vapor is priced aggressively at (Check on Amazon.com).

Final Verdict

The Misfit Vapor is an excellent budget smartwatch given its price, good display, and minimal design. Too bad for the absence of GPS and NFC and for the autonomy that doesn’t set it apart from the competition.
