The Razer DeathAdder is a gaming mouse that gets renewed every now and then, improving performance and features, and is a device much appreciated by gamers, thanks to its timeless design and ergonomic shape. The Elite (Check on Amazon.com) is the latest embodiment and is equipped, for the first time, with mechanical switches designed by Razer in collaboration with Omron.

Design

Razer DeathAdder Elite Design

The DeathAdder Elite features the same basic design as the previous versions, with an ergonomic right-handed structure made of high-quality black plastic.

The programmable buttons are now seven, the two main ones, the scroll wheel, the two side buttons, and the two new DPI buttons.

Its asymmetrical form and a wavy surface allow for the ideal positioning of the hand both with Palm and Claw grip. A Fingertip grip is still OK, but it’s also the least suitable for this type of mouse.

Technical specifications

The new PMW3398 optical sensor is currently the fastest and most accurate sensor on the market. Thanks to its 99.4% accuracy and a speed of up to 450 inches per second (IPS), it guarantees ultra-high responsiveness and accuracy, while the resolution can be adjusted from 100 to a maximum of 16000 DPI.

Razer Synapse

The device comes with full compatibility with Razer Synapse. The home page shows you the mouse and its keys, which are fully customizable. In the “Performance” tab you can decide the polling rate and acceleration of the DeathAdder Elite, while from the “Lightning” tab, you can customize the mouse’s illumination. The “Macro” tab is self-explanatory. Once you have set the mouse just like you want it you can save the profile to your account: Razer will save the configuration in the cloud and load it again every time you log in with the same account, a convenient feature when you need to use the mouse with a different computer.

User experience

The weight of just 105g remained unchanged since the 2013 version and allows an ideal degree of maneuverability, especially for players accustomed to low sensitivity.

The side buttons are well placed and accessible with the thumb; the wheel has been slightly improved.

A significant leap forward has been made with the introduction of the new Hyperesponse switches that are much more responsive.

For the gaming test, we chose Overwatch. The DeathAdder Elite, with its extremely precise optical sensor, allowed us to excel during our matches, offering ideal tracking at every resolution with no added acceleration. The Lift-Off Distance, calibrated to perfection, was also flawless.

The introduction of the two DPI buttons are a godsend for FPS gamers, not so much in Overwatch, which is too hectic for it to make a difference, but ideal for more tactical titles such as Call Of Duty and Battlefield.

Verdict

The Razer DeathAdder Elite (Check on Amazon.com) is once again one of the most performing mice on the market, continuing the tradition started by the company several years ago. The product is comfortable and dedicates its design to gamers who need responsiveness and accuracy at the highest levels. On the other hand, we do not recommend this product if you play a lot of MMORPGs, as it lacks the necessary amount of buttons.
